The Story Behind the Artwork

It was Kristjana's much loved Lear parrot Limited Edition prints that first drew the Tanqueray team to her artwork, and, inspired by the collaboration, Kristjana has created a bespoke 3D pair of the Flower House Lear birds, which are now available for sale for the first time.

The Lear birds, re-imagined as if they have flown through a vase of flowers as painted by Ambrosious Bosscheart, a celebrated 16th Century Dutch Still Life painter. The original Lear bird prints were some of the first composition collage images Kristjana created, inspired by the drawings of the greatest ornithological artist of his era, Edward Lear.

Edward Lear was an English artist, illustrator, musician, author and poet. He was an incredible spirit and is best known for his popular nonsense collections of poems, songs, short stories, botanical drawings, recipes and alphabets.
