Kristjana S Williams X Searcys Champagne Bar
Kristjana has collaborated on a number of artistic projects with the celebrated British hospitality brand, Searcys. Most recently, Kristjana was commissioned to create three bespoke artworks for Searcys latest Champagne Bar, located in the iconic Grade II* listed Battersea Power Station. This commission followed exhibitions at Searcys restaurant at the Gherkin, and the Barbican Brasserie. The three artworks for the Battersea Champagne Bar were commissioned to celebrate the brand's 175-year history. Through thorough research, Kristjana depicted Searcys' heritage within the artworks, referencing the life of the brand from the Victorian era to the present day. The pieces include the prominent and eclectic audiences served by Searcys across the decades, and culinary motifs that draw upon its heritage as a confectioner.
The Searcys Garden Landscape I and II, 2023.
These two landscape artworks were created as one long continual and surreal landscape that blends nature, hills and rivers with architectural aspects. The landscape is brought to life with bursts of colour, movement and flavour. Searcys' brand identity and history is depicted through the many surreal and magical elements such as flying teacups and saucers, to champagne sprouting from flowers and cutlery-branched trees. An eclectic mix of figures from around the land have collected together to enjoy afternoon tea or celebrate with a glass of champagne. Within the scene, you'll spot the Searcys Rolls Royce and the various locations and audiences of Searcy's bars and restaurants over the decades, with a signpost celebrating the 175 years of history.
Hringlaga Searcys Palace, 2023.
This stunning three-dimensional circular piece encapsulates the spirit of celebration, joy and people coming together within a beautifully adorned ornate palace. The soft pink walls and architectural pillars frame the celebratory scene that takes place within. An abundance of curiosities each draw inspiration from London’s oldest catering company, from glasses flying with their avian wings, guests depicted in playful animal guises and culinary items magically transformed. As you take a look closer, you can take a peek outside and see glimpses of the landscape piece, connecting the trio of artworks together.Creating three bespoke pieces for Searcys, Kristjana comments: "Exploring the rich heritage of the Searcys brand has been an absolute dream for me artistically. There is so much history and content from which to draw inspiration; from the incredible talent and entrepreneurship of John Searcy himself and his work with some of the most important European figures of the 19th Century, to the incredible legacy of being London's oldest catering company and Searcys many world-class restaurants across the UK. Within these bespoke artworks, you will discover multiple references to the life of the brand from the Victorian era to present day, including the eclectic audiences served by Searcys across the decades, and culinary motifs that draw upon its heritage as a confectioner."
