Embroidered Plötur Collection
In an exciting and contemporary new creative direction, Kristjana has added a different aspect to her trademark collage work, creating a series of embroidered ceramic plate artworks.
Having experimented mixing her traditional paper elements with embroidered textile patches in her seminal 3D pieces Love and Hope, Kristjana decided to try a new base. A set of vintage ceramic plates were discovered in a local charity shop, and the new Embroidered Plötur Collection began to take shape.
The result is an explosion of colour and texture leaping from a creamy white base, with patches of silken yarns and faux gems woven together to tell the narrative of their creation.
