The story behind the artwork

The Red Velvet Hound Gossaert Diorama is a re-imagining of The Adoration of the Kings by Jan Gossaert a French Renaissance painter born in 1478. The depth, the colour and the highly detailed oil painting drew Kristjana to this work and she imagined providing the stage for a riot of birds and mammals border with red velvet curtains. This exploration allowed her to create a diorama with the depth that makes the multiple layered work and creating a whole new stage, feel and a explore of the work.

Artwork Details

Kristjana captures the traditional method of dioramas by adapting her trademark collage technique; designing and giclée printing the individual elements, before intricately hand and laser cutting them and slotting the pieces into a bespoke frame and layering to create the sense of reality and depth. The result is a stunning three dimensional paper theatre graphic art piece.

Edition of 75, signed and numbered by the artist.

All dioramas come with a physical Certificate of Authenticity.

Due to the construction of the dioramas, all dioramas come in specialist frames. The top layer of the artwork is placed between two sheets of non-reflective glass. The Red Velvet Hound Gossaert Diorama is framed in a decorative white wooden frame. For further information on Framing service, click here.
