EN ROUTE

Presented as part of the Jubilee Year, Pilgrims of Hope, En Route was an unique collaboration between the Vatican Library, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Lorenzo Jovanotti Cherubini.

It explored the idea of travel in all its forms, through a series of intricate, multi-layered works inspired by the Library’s historic archives.

Kristjana's collaboration to the exhibition were some of her collages and map-based artworks, each re-imagining the age of exploration with a sense of wonder and renewal.

Like Poma’s Journey: A Continental Drift”, a spectacular triptych inspired by the world travels of Cesare Poma, linking continents through fantastical bridges of flora, fauna, and flight.
Or the Tree of Life: Roots to Routes, a lush, symbolic re-interpretation of the Tree of Life, uniting heritage and discovery in an explosion of colour and form, and the Leroy & Papillaud World Map, a celebration of two 19th-century travellers who financed their adventures through storytelling, reminding us how imagination fuels exploration.
Outside, the Library's façade displayed a striking "EN ROUTE" flag installation, each letter designed by Kristjana to honour one of the exhibition's collaborators - from Maria Grazia Chiuri's world of fashion to Jovanotti's realm of sound, and the Vatican's own legacy of knowledge and curiosity.
