The story behind the artwork
Renaissance Rome looking at architectural engravings. Working with the Royal Stairway, this entrance is multiplied to create a exaggerated sense of depth, which is inspired by the time Kristjana spent at the V&A creating an exhibition in the British galleries. Kristjana's approach here is working with depth, doing so by incorporating the collected plates by John Barrington, which have an exceptional depth and clarity. Working with them, creating said depth as well as entering a world of exciting hues was a feast for the mind. The compositional elements include the famous all-knowing Paul Smith Zebra as well as English curiosities and industry, like the fox coming for tea and the rabbit with the teacups. Also depicted is a sewing machine representing the very core of PS.
