The story behind the artwork
Catch a glimpse through a porthole of a submarine world, with all the dazzling, intricate appeal of a tropical coral reef. Guppies tremble their fanned-tails while a stingray drifts away into the deep. Kristjana has submerged terrestrial touches; a Victorian bow-relief mirror with its peeping cherub and a colonnaded antique brass vase, both incongruous in their watery surroundings, yet strangely at home. Swollen black grapes and heady bluebells droop. A fuchsia pink eel fish with branches sprouting from its forehead depicts the interplay between life on land and life under water.
Kristjana is fascinated by the power of water. Instinctively we are compelled to seek it out, to be close to its edges, to sail over it and submerge ourselves in it. It is, after all, the element that sustains all of life on our ‘blue planet’. Its restorative properties have been scientifically proven - people often heal more quickly if they have a view of water. Enliven your walls with your own private view of the ocean with this contemporary fine art, Limited Edition print.
Circular Sea-born print has been inspired by Kristjana’s love of the ocean and an appreciation of its infinite power. Her passion has inspired commissions including work for a Michelin-starred restaurant in Torquay on the Devon coast.
This artwork forms one of a complementary pair which look stunning when hung together. Complete the pair.
