The story behind the artwork

The bee that holds Kristjana's heart, carried forward by solar winds through kaleidoscopic Icelandic skies, the aurora dancing between its glimmering wings. Motifs of a beloved homeland take their place atop this hero of the natural world. A pair of arctic seals take flight from their frosted habitat, framing the iconic Hallgrímskirkja, its concrete facade a reminder of the unforgiving Icelandic landscape, yet a sanctuary for all who enter. An elusive island puffin joins fabled creatures from icy depths, keepers for now of the precious nectar stored along their voyage. Look closely between roving antenna... is it the man-made compass or the wise old owl that steers this super-star pollinator onwards through silver skies?
