The story behind the artwork

Magnus Grimsson, Kristjana's grandfather, fought in the Cod War in Iceland. The Cod War was a series of confrontations between the United Kingdom and Iceland on fishing rights in the North Atlantic. All of the disputes ended with an Icelandic victory. Kristjana's spent a lot of her youth in her grandfather's living room, drawing maps and imagining people at sea. In time spent with her grandfather, Kristjana has vivid memories of her grandfather creating troller nets, which were fascinatingly gigantic and almost neon green. The artwork Calm At Sea, depicts Kristjana's ideal scenario when at sea, where the intrepid travellers meet her vivid imagination.

Printed in our studio in London on Matt Smooth Fine Art Cotton 300 gsm, using giclée inks to ensure you are able to enjoy your print for years to come. All prints come with a physical Certificate of Authenticity.

Edition of 175, signed and numbered by the artist.
