Opening This May
The Bridal Costume
As some of you may already know, A Voyage in History - The Bridal Costume Exhibition, exploring one of the most remarkable bridal costumes in Iceland’s history, opens to the public on 9 May at the National Museum of Iceland.

We’re delighted to share a sneak peek of Kristjana’s work,
which will be on display at the exhibition.
BRUDARGUNINGUR MAP

A richly detailed map of Iceland unfolds through blooming flora and fauna, volcanic moths, and whale skeletons drifting above rooftops. Real stories are reimagined through a surreal lens, blending history, nature and imagination into a landscape shaped by memory rather than geography.

In the south-west, magnifying glasses draw focus to the Brúðarbúningur and the lives connected to it. Along the coast, travellers arrive as waves meet moss-covered land. In the north, silver elements hint at transformation and craftsmanship.
THE MURAL

A surreal landscape translating time into space,
with west as the past and east as the future.
At its centre is the Brúðarbúningur, a bridal costume once owned by Sigríður and passed through generations. It endures moments of joy and hardship, including the eruption of Laki, before eventually being lost at sea. Its journey connects lives, places and histories.
AND MUCH MORE

If the exhibition itself isn’t reason enough to visit, a selection of prints and exclusive merchandise will also be available in the museum shop.
Stay tuned for more updates and surprises.
