The story behind the artwork
Created exclusively for the V&A to celebrate their exhibition Opera: Passion, Power and Politics. This design was also made into an amazing diorama in a very low edition of 10, sold exclusively in the V&A Shop.
This limited edition print reimagines a scene at the Opera. A host of colourful characters are arriving at the Opera with Maria Callas, in a white dress, forming the centre of the print. The beautiful staircase and building are taken from the Opera Garnier in Paris designed by Charles Garnier. The theatre stage has been inserted along with sumptuous red velvet curtains to frame the spectacle. The swirl in the sea shells mirror the treble clef in music partitions. The horse references in the print refer to the fact that historically people could tell how popular a show was by the amount of horse manure in front of the theatre after the performance. The more manure, the more popular the show!

Printed in our studio in London, using the highest quality archival paper (Matt Smooth Fine Art Cotton 300gsm) and highest quality inks (giclée), to ensure you are able to enjoy your print for years to come.

Framing service available
To ensure your Limited Edition Print is well protected we use ph neutral i.e acid free tapes, board and back mount. The artwork is entirely stuck down and mounted to the frame. Customs duties
International orders may incur customs duties (intra EU orders excluded) which are not included in the shipping costs. Kristjana S Williams Studio will make every attempt to minimise customs charges in accordance with international shipping regulations.
Returns Policy
It's Ok if you change your mind. All artwork ordered comes inclusive of our no-hassle 30 days free return policy, no questions asked. You can contact us within 30 days of receiving your order for a full refund or exchange. Please return the item in the original packaging.

If you prefer to pay in instalments, any orders over £400 can be purchased with an interest free Partial.ly payment plan for up to 3 months. The order will be processed once the initial payment has gone through and will be delivered according to our normal lead times stated above.
