This Circular World map Original artwork features iconic buildings from some of the worlds major cities. Kristjana brings it to life with colourful foliage and fantastical animals some of which fly above the world in magical hot air balloons.
Growing up in Iceland, where there are very few tall buildings, the impact the major cities of the world had on Kristjana was massive. She is truly inspired by the world's cities, and working with world maps is a passion of hers. Nature has always been really important to Kristjana. The Icelandic nature is really harsh and unforgiving, it is very stark with lots of blacks, whites and greys. The colourful flora and fauna in other parts of the world is a great inspiration, and Kristjana enjoys playing with colours in her work, the colours in the nature elements bring a piece to life.
Framed dimensions: 105 cm x 105 cm x 13 cm
Hand and laser cut paper collage. Digitally designed, hand sculpted paper elements are pinned in place to create a stunning three dimensional effect.
Kristjana's Original pieces come in a deep plain box frame or a bespoke hand routed circular frames, which can be painted in any colour the client wishes. Kristjana uses perspex glass for the framing of her original work, due to the lightness of the material and durability.
