This highly elaborate and intricate original artwork, which is a part of The Knowledge 3D Series, is a piece depicting the history of London inspired by Kristjana's commission piece The Knowledge for The Shard in London. Layer upon layer of victorian engravings are delicately put together to make this beautiful piece. Some integrated into the map itself and many laser cut or carefully hand cut, folded and pinned in place by the artist. A fact sheet with all the historical references comes with this piece. The titel of this artwork translates from icelandic/english as East Robin London 2016 Original.
Austur Robin London 2016 Original sits well as a pair with the Vestur Uglu London 2016 Original.
Dimensions: 1.05 m x 1.05 m
Hand routed three dimensional hand finished frame:
The circular deep frames for Kristjana's original work are all around harder to make from the craftsmanship of the frame to the underneath backing of the print and the development of the roundels take so much longer and that is part of the reason why they feel that much more special. Each platform is hand routered and glued together with the then finished edges then it goes over to the framers that hand finishes the pieces so they fit seamlessly together. The whole process of the frame making is a craftsmanship effort between the woodworker and the framer.
