The story behind the artwork

One of a limited series of 3D Original Artworks, designed exclusively for show at the 2021 Art Car Boot Fair. These exquisite mini pieces are set against the backdrop of Kristjana’s original and iconic London map artwork ‘Lundunah Kort’, the very first London map that Kristjana used to develop her eye catching and immersive collage based artwork.

A delicate flamingo radiates in coral pink against the monochrome backdrop of London’s labyrinth of streets and lanes, faded facades and triumphant archways; a tentative tiptoe leads the viewer along the snaking Thames of a London re-imagined. The glorious and eye popping hues of the natural world colour the landscape, hinting at the life and energy within the iconic capital, seen by the viewer as if from the roaming Montgolfier style balloons flying overhead.

Bespoke Hand and laser cut paper collage. Digitally designed, hand sculpted paper elements are painstakingly pinned in place onto a thick foam board, creating a stunning three dimensional effect.Utterly unique in its composition and to its owner, an original artwork is one of its kind and cannot be replicated. Your piece will be the only piece like it, anywhere in the world.
